Hey everyone, this is a little band I picked up on through my frequent theprp.com adventures. Every once in a while there’s a band on there that turns out to be somewhat good, let alone listenable. This band just got signed to No Sleep Records, a record label that I’ve never heard of, and will be releasing a full-length later on this year. This band is for fans of Circle Takes the Square’s sporadic riffs minus so much metal, plus mewithoutYou -esque vocals. The lyrics are on the side of better than worse, which is always a plus with these metal/ hardcore/ todays-heavy-music bands. The singer has a good bit of emotion behind his wailing and singing, another plus. The only negative I can think of is the recording quality of ‘Vancouver’, their eight song self released cd. This is one of those bands that most won’t like, and a bit of time will be needed to get used to.

This band is another one I picked up from prp, their cd ‘Great White Whale’ releases tomorrow via Tooth & Nail. Secret & Whisper features ex-members of Stutterfly, a band of which I recall giving a listen and not liking too much. This band doesn’t do too much different outside of the box for metal/ hardcore/ heavy music, but the vocalist is a bit different, and something you wouldn’t stereotypically find in a band of this nature. Usually you’d get a screamer that has gay singy chorus’, but this singer sings the whole time, which is what I like, go one way or the other, don’t mix it up too much, unless you’re Killswitch Engage, the pioneer of the trend. Give this band a try, it’s nothing special, just kinda caught my ear as a little bit different and out of the norm.

heeyyy, cool.
i’m listening to secret & whisper now and i’ll say that it’s definitely something i can see growing fond of over time. it sounds a bit like most other tooth and nail bands..or past t&n bands as the case may be..like armor for sleep or anberlin and at times there’s a random heavy part that sounds like something out of a he is legend song..but overall i kinda dig it. i’m downloading the disc now and we’ll see where it goes from there.
in unrelated news, i should have a new post of this nature up very soon, i have a few new things to talk about. woot.
