Every few weeks, I seem to go through spurts of not really having anything at all to write about on here. I wish more of the bums that are supposed to be my supporting cast would post ANYthing, but they don’t, so as my moods go, as goes this site. The brief period of political talk on here should be over which is great because I’m sick of it and sick of seeing political ads over on the side of this front page. I’ve been kinda hesitant to do any music reviews lately, mainly because the big 2008 year end list is coming up in a few weeks, and since I’ve expanded it to 100 cds, I’m kinda overwhelmed with it. Ummm what else? Nothing really I guess.

Bears at the DNC

So last night wrapped up the Democratic Nat’l Convention with Obama’s big nomination acceptance speech. All over Atlanta, various bars and restaurants were PACKED with folks gathered for viewing parties of the occasion, and I’d imagine that was the case all over the country. I know some/most of you guys out there watched this, and if so, what were your impressions of the speech and of Obama as Presidential candidate altogether?

I admit it. I watch American Gladiators. I like the show, so sue me. I
realize the show itself features some pretty homosexual content… But,
there has been one recent addition that has irked me since the start.
This addition is pictured above. Ladies and Gentlemen, let me introduce
you to HURRICANE!!!! And Yes, he is one “Big Category Five Fagot”.
(from BK). Now, I’m not hating for any superficial reasons… ok… I
am actually. Check out that AWESOME hair. Its some whack multicolor
fauxhawk … pink, black, and blonde? what? Gayyeee. Not to mention,
I’m pretty sure I see some guyliner. Its like someone ate Jared Leto, a
football player, and a rainbow and then vomited them all up. Woo! GO
HURRICANE! ….

Politics. So now I have to vote for either John McCain or Barrack
Obama. Cool. THATS AWESOME! So my choices are some really old, pro war,
less than conservative/conservative. OR some really ‘superfly’, african
american badass, with hardly any political experience… and no ideas
except “Yes We Can”. AWESOME! I miss Mike Gravel. At least, he was a
hip, crazy old man. (Disclaimer: These views are that of ONLY Matt, and
do not represent the views of Bears Eat People & staff) This
election is going to suck.

I don’t get it. I just don’t get it. What the hell is up with Twilight?
What is it about it that makes all little girls scream? What is it
about it that makes moms as the main actor whether he wears boxers or
briefs?! I’ve head it described as half Buffy and half Dawson’s Creek.
Which makes it only HALF sound good. Too bad the other Half sounds like
the complete suckhole of suckdom! More to follow. . . I’m not done with
Twilight.

#31 – Charlie Wilson’s War

Love him or hate him, Tom Hanks usually puts out a decent film every couple of years. 2007 is apparently one of those years. Charlie Wilson’s War utilizes it’s strengths, acting and screenplay, to become one very entertaining film… That is, as long as you enjoy Hanks and political jargon.

Good Points – Hanks, Philip Seymore Hoffman! !!!, Aaron Sorkin’s screenplay, 97minute political drama

Bad Points – Julia Roberts, Crazy political jargon, Hanks (being Tom Hanks)

Fine! I know I’ve put Tom Hanks as both a good and bad thing; but sometimes you can just tell when a performer thinks he’s awesome. (Lets call that the Sean Penn Syndrome). One cool thing is Charlie Wilson (Hank’s character) is very similar to Hank’s character in Big. Basically, they both are adults looking to have super fun times!! And we all know how much fun, fun times are.

Amy Adams is all up in this film too. Jeez, she had a busy 2007; with Enchanted and ~~Underdog~~ check that, nevermind.

Final Word? Charlie Wilson’s War was fun, smart, and kind of interesting. Check it out and see how the Cold War REALLY ended. Or at least, bask in the glow of Hoffman’s awesomeness.
