They’ve got a new album out on August 9, and as these things tend to go, they have a new video out to help promote said album. This song is called ‘Currents Meet The Tide’ -  if you’ve never heard them before, this is a pretty fair indicator of what to expect. Moody ambient atmosphere with traces of post rock thrown in for good measure along the way from time to time. If you like this, you’d be wise to check out just about ANYthing else the awesome record label n5MD releases – I’ve never heard anything with their name on it that I didn’t enjoy.

I know you guys have missed this…

Ok so this is almost more of a failure in music video, but the music itself is no prize either, so I figured what the heck, I’ll just go the whole nine yards with it.
I found this gem on my music choice on demand tv thing today and I havta tell ya, I just had a feeling this was going to be something special.
It seems these dudes are Austrian or something and are close pals with the devilish one himself, they’re so close in fact, that I thiiink he makes a cameo in this video to play Quidditch with the band.  Nuclear Blast must have gotten a good deal on goats to sacrifice or something and really gotten the Dev’s attention. He knows when bands means business.  And these guys mean fucking business.

Oh and hey, read this sentence and try not to chuckle..it’s from the band’s wiki page.

How the hell are you gonna be in a satan band with dudes named Helmuth and Sigurd and be fucking named Chris? At least add an upside down t at the end or something to prove you belong at the party, I mean shit, Chris is terribly unmetal. I think the band realized this too, because their next few drummers had names like Man, Torturer, and Nefastus.

Sometime last year the metal freakazoids that make up the band Slipknot released a disc entitled All Hope Is Gone which was much better than their previous Subliminal Verses Vol III. Don’t get me wrong, Slpknot is not the band that they once were, but this cd had an undeniably bombastic song called Pyschosocial that was more or less, one of last years best metal songs, probably should’ve won a grammy or something. But then once you listen to the rest of the cd it kinda just goes downhill, all the other songs are quite bland and boring and lame. Then you get to  a song that is nothing like the usual Slipknot ruckus, ‘Snuff’ is more like a Stone Sour song, an acoustic and melodic little tune that has some great lyrics and great meaning. Corey Taylor, while always able to generate the lameness lyrically (‘If you’re 555 then I’m 666′, ‘We, we are the pulse of the maggots)’, but he also has his moments of putting some really good words down on paper (Snuff’s own ‘If I could change I hope I never know’, ‘I am the push that makes you move’). Moody acoustic guitars and dark lyrics result in one of Slipknots best songs to date, definitely their best of the past two cd’s, and probably better than anything they’ll do in the future. BearsEatPeople.com presents the video for said song. Not a bad visual representation, but the end is uh, ehh, hmm? Decide for yourself.

On October 20, the legendary Converge will release a brand new record upon the masses entitled ‘Axe To Fall’ (and it’s pretty solid btw).  These guys have always been a little bit hit or miss for me; they have some awesome moments, they have some ehh moments – and even when they are at their best, I still have to be in the right mindset to listen at all. They’re loud, abrasive, metal as shit, and kiinda hard to digest, but darn it, they’re still super cool.
Here’s the video for the title track from the record soo I suggest you watch it. Unless you don’t wanna get your face ripped off, in which case, don’t watch it. But srsly, who doesn’t enjoy a ripped off face every now and then?
